On March 19, 2016, Chiquita Geldorp and Jerome Griffin were married in the College of William & Mary's Wren Chapel. The couple has special ties to the College - as Jerome is an alumnus and both work for William & Mary - Jerome in admissions and Chiquita in Career Services.

Jerome and Chiquita met while attending the National Black Student Leadership Conference, when she was a senior at Lehigh and Jerome was in a Graduate Program at James Madison University. Because of her beautiful smile, Jerome invited her to join him in a group during a conference session. They connected on Facebook after the conference, however didn't reconnect until some time later, when Chiquita's best friend from Lehigh and Jerome's fraternity bother were both camp counselors at an overnight camp in Pennsylvania. After realizing this shared connection, Jerome reached out and as Chiquita said, "The rest is history."
On an evening at home in March 19, 2013, Jerome mentioned during dinner that he had a ring and, "If she could find it, she could have it." Knowing Jerome all too well, Chiquita immediately found the ring in his closet upstairs and she said YES! They went on to call their families and celebrate and decided that their special day would be exactly three years later on March 19, 2016.

As for the wedding's color scheme, purple is both Jerome's and Chiquita's favorite color. Chiquita also wanted to have a chic and simple color palette. The colors of plum and pewter were officially determined after she got her wedding dress. When Chiquita came out of the dressing room, her maid of honor said, "That's it, that's your dress, it's soft romance."
Chiquita thought that was the perfect description and it inspired many other details of the couple's wedding, including the flowers. "The first time I saw my bouquet or any of the flowers... My jaw dropped in the best way," said Chiquita. "The flowers were beautiful and came out even better than I could have imagined! The were soft romance and made for a wonderful touch to a perfect day!"
