A Fall Plantation Wedding: Timo & Rachel

Rachel Grant, of Williamsburg, VA, and Timo Schrey, of Paderborn, Germany, were married on October 7, 2015 at the beautiful Historic Jasmine Plantation in Providence Forge.

Rachel and Tim's paths crossed in 2014, when she flew to Sydney, Australia to study TV/Film at Hillsong College. At that time, Timo had already been studying there for two years, in the same field. Two weeks after Rachel arrived, she was assigned to work with Timo in Hillsong's TV Department. Soon enough, he came to find Rachel during Hillsong's Colour Conference and with his camera in hand, he stopped what he was doing and spoke with her for three hours! Rachel said, "After that, it didn't take us long to realize that we were supposed to be together."

Later that year, Timo flew home to the United States with Rachel to visit her family at Christmastime. Secretly, he coordinated with her sister to find an ideal spot in Williamsburg to pop the question. Two days after Christmas, he asked Rachel to marry him in Colonial Williamsburg - her favorite place in the world! "We'd never been more sure of anything in our lives," said Rachel. "When you know, you know!"

Then, the wedding planning began! For the color scheme of their special day, Timo and Rachel chose jewel tones. With fall being Rachel's favorite season and some help from Pinterest - they decided on rich cranberry reds, golds, and shimmery bronze to contrast the deep greens of the outdoors. For an elegant garden look, Rachel also planned to incorporate lots of glass, wood, and candlelight in the decor.

For the rest of the wedding theme, Rachel wanted to feel like a princess in a fairy tale (she was marrying her prince, after all). A cathedral veil and tiara completed her strapless ballgown, and to top it off, Rachel and Timo had a horse and carriage at the ceremony. Despite all of the little details - the most important thing to the couple was that the two of them were there together and they had this special day to mark the start their lives together!

As for the flowers, Rachel said, "Cindy and Arlene at Morrison's aided me tremendously in making all the decisions about our flowers! I could never have done it without them. They listened to my vision, gave me their suggestions, and used their expertise to coordinate the most beautiful wedding look I could have imagined--down to every detail. I so enjoyed meeting with both of them. They and their staff took every effort to make sure our flowers were perfect! We are truly grateful!"

One of Rachel's most unforgettable moments of the day was when her sister, Katelyn, sang a song she wrote for the two of them, called "Don't Forget the Promise." This special song reflected on how both Timo and Rachel held out for the right person. "Every moment of waiting was worth it, because when we met, it was right," said Rachel. "It has been the most wonderful journey, and it's only just beginning."

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Timo Schrey! We wish you a journey filled with much love, laughter and happiness, always. Photos by Zachary Taylor Photography.
